New River Fishing - Whitethorne, Montgomery County, VA Virginia

Description: Whitethorne is not really a town or anything, its just the road leading to a primary public boat launch ramp. Drop your fishing boat in and go either way, up or town the river. Some parts are shallow, so you should proceed cautiously until you get to know the river. Most boats there are flat bottom with Jet motors. Trout is probably the most common caught fish - good luck.

Basic Directions: From Blacksburg, head west on Prices Fork Rd. at the fork in Prices Fork turn right onto McCoy Rd. and follow it a few miles until you start decending down a good sized hill (if you cross a bridge over a creek, you've gone to far). At the bottom of the hill turn left onto Whitethorne Rd. and follow it to the end, cross over the RR tracks and the parking lot and landing is there.
